About Ben Dekarske and This Site

Happy Me!
This site is the latest in a series, dating back to 1995 when I first jumped on the internet and started toying with HTML.
Many things have changed over the years ... from shared hosting to this domain; straight HTML to the combination of XHTML / CSS / JavaScript / PHP / Flash; browser compatibility; the overall look and feel; the list could go on.
There are few things that haven't changed, as a matter of fact. One thing certainly hasn't, however ... this is a place to promote myself as both a professional and an entrepreneur. And maybe a little more.
So for starters, I am currently employed as a principal software engineer with Jostens, based out of Edina MN, writing next-generation online yearbook creation tools. For those of you who aren't familiar, Edina is a suburb of Minneapolis. For a little history, you can check out my résumé.
Even though work and other extra-curricular activities keep me quite busy, I rarely turn down offers to do short projects on the side ... as long as there isn't a conflict of interest, of course. I pride myself on excellent work, and strive to get it right the first time ... check out my portfolio to learn more.
So, welcome! Any comments, just drop me a line.
